Fret Dress from £65

Re-Fret from £120

At GJ’s we use only the best quality American HARD fret wire in all our work. Whatever style of music you play and whatever type of guitar you own.. wear and tear is inevitable. Through time.. frets will wear as will the nut and saddle. One day you’ll pick up your guitar and notice that it just isn’t playing as well as it used to. It may be buzzing in places and you may have some dead spots on the neck...or a strange rattle or bad intonation. Badly worn frets can result in poor tone and intonation resulting in buzzing notes.. dead spots and fingerboard wear due to strings and fingernails gouging the fingerboard and more often than not.. your capo clamping the strings too tightly against the frets.

Pick-up fitting from £40 (fitting only)

Pick-ups are available to buy at additional cost from GJ’s Guitars.

A baffling range of pickup systems exist for acoustic instruments these days...

Modern systems can be far more accurate in the representation of your instrument’s "acoustic" sound. The latest innovation is multiple sensor systems such as a condenser mic combined with piezo element which can be blended together to give an accurate acoustic image of your guitars sound. But often with tricky fitting procedures.

Also it is not usually necessary to carve large holes in your beloved instrument. We have years of experience in this area and can help you achieve your goal.

Re-String £5 + Strings

Depending on how frequently you play, there’s nothing like the brightness and twang of a new set of strings to improve your sound and sustain. Most professionals change their strings every gig, while some brands of string can last for as long as six months of not-too-frequent playing.

But, make sure to re-string your guitar at least 24 hours before a gig to allow them to stretch and bed in.

Just bring your guitar in to the shop and we’ll fit the strings of your choice and while you wait the kettle is always on…

Refinishing - Refins

The finish on most modern mass-produced guitars is pretty tough. However, accidents happen and sometimes you need to fix that ding!

Spot repairs

At GJ’s guitars we can match most colours and will try our best to get the closest match to the original colour as possible. Age and wear and tear changes colours so spot repairs are hard to do (just like on cars) so r
emember that spot repairs will almost never be absolutely perfect. But, will serve take the eye away from the damage. Some colours such as black stand a much better chance of a good match.

Full refinish service

At GJ’s Guitars we can offer a full guitar refinish service, using only nitrocellulose lacquers.

Prices depend on the guitar, the colours and the type of finish required, so please contact John or Graham for further details and to discuss your ideas.

A quick note!
At GJ’s Guitars we would never recommend that anyone refinish or even repair the finish on a vintage instrument unless it has been very badly damaged. Changing an original finish will harm the guitar’s value and the vintage marke. Contact John or Graham if you are unsure... before having any work done!

Please note these prices are listed as a guide, we need to see your guitar and discuss your requirements in order to give an accurate quotation.
